The Corporate Department of Pharmacy Services, consistent with the mission of KSUMC, places a priority on education, research and patient care. It has a key role in assuring safe and effective medication use within KSUMC.
At KSUMC the pharmacy is responsible for dispensing medications daily for an average inpatient population of 900 patients in KKUH and 200 patients on KAUH with additional services provided in the outpatient setting for more than 3000 patients. The Department consists of pharmacists, as well as technical and support personnel, who work together to assure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care possible.
Clinical services provided by the Department include renal drug monitoring, drug interaction monitoring, patient care rounding, medication teaching, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug order review, drug information support for care providers and a focus on an integrated, unit-based model for care delivery. Research is supported in the medical city through Department’s Investigational Drug Services. The department also supports the pharmacy education through Department’s Professional Advancement Unit, overseeing pharmacy education for students and residents.
